Ashna Raj, my only grand daughter was born on March 21, 1985 in Norwalk town of Los Angles. She was considered lucky as after her birth, the first family business of a video store was started in Moody and Cypress by my son and daughter-in-law.
To keep myself busy I decided to start improving English. One day my daughter-in law’s friend Neera took me to La- Mirada High School and got me admitted in the English Electronic Type writer class. I continued going there during my stay in America.
During that period an annual function of that school was held. The teacher told every student to wear the dress representing their country because the students were from different countries. Teacher asked me to arrange an Indian lady’s traditional dress and I did accordingly. I wore my clothes and my daughter-in-law draped the “Saree” on another lady student (from Japan or Mexico). I and she performed the show.
A song (American) was sung in a big group by the students of different countries. The function was very wonderful as it was decorated in a nice way. Every student held their country’s National Flag.
During my study I passed the Typing test at the speed of 59 words per minute on English electronic type writer.
I enjoyed my study very well because the staff and students were very co-operative and helpful.
